Home Business 2 - Start Up A Bed & Breakfast Business From Home
If you have spare rooms in your home, then why not cash in by starting a Bed and Breakfast establishment from your home. Bed and Breakfast Inns are fast becoming very popular with travellers who prefer the homestyle atmosphere as opposed to a hotel or motel. Thus, there is a great demand for this type of service.
What You Need To Start
Obviously, you will need to have one or more spare rooms and somebody to do the breakfast if you can't. A telephone and fax machine is a must to take down bookings and respond to customers. If you intend doing Internet bookings, then a computer with Internet connection is a must.
Do up your rooms up if necessary, maybe a fresh coat of paint, a new carpet, some new curtains and bedding and don't forget the towels. Also, a clean, neat toilet and shower is compulsory.
Licensing Requirements
In most instances, if you are running a small, part time operation, you won't need a special license but this may vary from state to state and country to country. It is recommended you check with your local authorities first.
Advertising And Marketing
You can have a small sign made up advertising your B&B and install that outside your house in a prominent position.
List your B&B with your local tourist association. Provide a description of your B&B and maybe with some photopgraphs.
You can also advertise on holiday and tourist websites in the same way as above - you can even start your own website to market your service.
Newspaper advertising, either in classifieds or display is always a good idea.
Running a B&B is incredibly profitable with a very low investment required on your part. You can thus grow this into a comfortable income producing business from your home.
