Do you live in a city where there are lots of interesting places? Do you think these places will be of interest to visitors? If so, then you can start up and operate a local tour service in your city. This is a great home business opportunity can be managed from your home.
Before you start, you will need to research the places of interest in your area. Make a note of them and ensure you have a good knowledge of these spots. Armed with all this information, you can then start putting a "tour package" together.
You don't need a special vehicle for this business. You can hire a large vehicle or a tour buse, offer cycling tours, etc.
In order to set a fair price, research your competitors and see what they are charging. You must then price your package slightly lower or if you keep the same price, you could add more benefits for your visitors.
Make colorful brochures of your tour packages and leave them in tourist centers, shopping malls, airports, bus stations, harbours, hotels, etc.
You should also hook up with travel agents in your area and convince them to offer your packages to their clients. Advertisements in out of city magazines and newspapers is also a good idea. You could also sponsor little items like pens, notepads, napkins to hotels with small ads of your service printed on them. Give them freely to hotels and request that they put them in their rooms.
There are three sources of customers in this business:
1. Out of towners who visit for business or pleasure.
2. Charter companies who take on group charters.
3. Locals in your area who want some fun.
You need to decide what quantity of people will make up a tour party. Once you achieve that number, set your tour in motion.
If you operate a small one-person tour service from your home, your expenses will be minimal. You can do all the work yourself at the beginning but as you expand, you can consider taking on extra staff on a part time basis.
